Brief

Sembawang West Virtual Cycling Race 2026 is a community-focused virtual cycling initiative by Virtual Cycling SG (VSG) and People’s Association (PA), designed to bring people together through sport in the heartlands. Centred on inclusivity and participation, the event aims to promote active living, strengthen community bonding, and introduce virtual cycling to a wider audience in Singapore.
Building on VSG’s experience in youth and general competitive cycling events, this event shifts the focus towards a more accessible, “let’s ride together” format—welcoming participants of all backgrounds and fitness levels. Held at Woodlands Galaxy CC, the initiative creates a shared space for residents, youths, and families to experience cycling in a fun, engaging, and safe environment.

What is virtual cycling and how it can benefit you?

Virtual cycling combines a real bike setup with interactive digital platforms, allowing you to cycle in a simulated environment—whether solo or together with others. Why try virtual cycling?

  • Safe and accessible without traffic, weather, or road risks -> Perfect entry point for beginners

  • Ride together, anytime and anywhere

  • Fun & gamified experience

Race Categories

Riders will be grouped into Males and Females. If there are insufficient riders from one gender, then both males and females will be grouped together
Riders will also be grouped according to age (calculated as difference between calendar year and birth year):

  • Youth (13-16 years old)

  • Under 23 (17-22 years old)

  • Open (23-34 years old)

  • Masters (35-44 years old)

  • Veteran (45 years old and above)

For the Team Relay, there is an additional category of Parent + child (no limit on child/parent’s age).

Race Format*

Whether you’re joining individually or with a team, there’s something for everyone.

Individual

Team Relay

  • Riders compete within their respective age categories in waves of 10 over a 4.0 km virtual course.

  • The top 5 riders from each wave advance through the quarter-finals and semi-finals, with the top 10 riders progressing to the final.

  • Eliminated riders may be given chance for a  redemption round, depending on number of participants.

  • There will be one final race for each age category, depending on sign up.

  • Form a team of two with someone from your age category, or pair up for a parent-child race.

  • Rider A starts and completes 2.0 km before tagging Rider B, who completes the remaining 2.0 km.

  • Teams compete in waves under a similar knockout format. The top teams from each wave advance through the rounds, with the top 10 teams qualifying for the finals.
